Ciao Vitalik, THANK YOU! Life drawing is not my forte but it'll turn out to be useful especially for the proportions, it forces me to think more while I'm drawing, I loose spontaneity to get something else
Brian, THANKS! Honestly...I rarely make copies from video...these are exceptions, but....whatever has interesting and harmonic composition...whatever makes me feel good, and that goes for colors too.

claudio.. probably a bit of an involved question.. how would you define a "good" or interesting.. or harmonic composition?.. where could someone learn more about composition?
Brian, I'm not good in rational analysis, more I draw and more I get distance from that approach, and I get distance from that way to see "art". I'm not trying to avoid your question...how can I put it...in nature everything is harmonic, the sense of harmony we have comes from what is surrounding us right? But still I see some compositions that are more interesting than others (while I'm writing more I get confuse ahah...), for sure it doesn't exist a "more interesting" composition, maybe it's just subjective.Years ago I was more attracted by contrasted compositions, you know, those in which you can see a huge mountain and a small character on the ground for example, but recently I'm more attracted by masses well distributed all over the surface, Alex Thoth was superb in that.I love movies from 60's (in general everything made during these days), there was a big sensibility for composition and weights. I feel that after I copy live movies, more I get a sense of balance but I would never became a slave of "right things" to do, that can turn out to be even dangerous for me.On top of all...it depends the way you are, if you can give your best following a method or if methods are your biggest enemy. In my case what I get is never what I planed...that's a drama isn't it? Ciao
Brian, sorry for the things I just wrote, they sound totally obvious ahah, you know better than me what an interesting composition is , but in fact it's hard to try to put in a scheme something is not born to be in it. When I read somewhere the definition of "what is funny" ...I get so sad ^_^
claudio, thanks for your response.. was just wondering your take on it. I'm still trying to figure this composition thing out, I personally am still confused as to what elements make a composition good or bad.. I think i still go a lot by instinct as well... i guess in my quest to analyze what i think is good or not. i'm trying to pick the brains of other people who I think know something that i don't. Maybe in the end it's all very subjective?
It's good that you mentioned movies from the 60s and work from the 60s. I will look into those. I've also been copying movies in my spare time.. sometimes i seem to understand why they're good... compositionally.. most of the time I have no idea why.. i guess i'm trying to figure out why something looks interesting, and why something else doesn't.. and I'm finding that composition plays a huge part in this... and i'm trying to find a way to go back to this "basic" thing.. and in a way relearn it, so i can get good at it too.. need a couple 1000 more hours of practice i guess...
thanks for writing all of this..perhaps its a little more reassuring to me, that someone else is just as confused as me on what.. "good" composition is... or maybe i'll have a better clue as to what i like after some more practice.. haha...
